Westlife

westife.JPG

Westlife is an Irish pop music group that formed in July 1998. They were signed by Simon Cowell and are currently managed by Louis Walsh. The group is popular in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and much of Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa.[1][2][3][4] In recent years, Westlife's sound has evolved from boy band "teen pop" into a more adult contemporary music (ACM) sound.

Westlife has had fourteen number one singles in the United Kingdom between the years 1999 and 2006, the third-highest such total in UK history, behind Elvis Presley and The Beatles, and tied with Cliff Richard. They are also the only artist/group to win 'Record of the Year' in the UK four times. The group had sold more than 40 million records by end of 2006, yet to this day it is still unclear to how many records exactly the band have sold because some of their main markets are countries in Asia that do not publish sales figures.[5][6] They are worth an estimated 28 million (about $38 million)[7]

Westlife were awarded the Best Irish Pop Act, a public voting category, at the annual Ireland Meteor Awards for the seventh consecutive year on 2 February 2007.

ASUS-Lamborghini VX1 Notebook

PC fans commonly liken the speed of their computers to that of high-performance cars. It's therefore somewhat surprising to note that relatively few hardware manufacturers have released car-inspired PCs. Acer pioneered this phenomenon with its Ferrari laptop range, but it has taken almost two years for anyone else to follow suit.

Ever eager to widen its range of stylish laptops, Asus has just released the sports car-inspired Lamborghini VX1 range, which promises as much performance and style as its namesake.

Design
The VX1 comes in two flavours: black, and the more traditional Lamborghini yellow. Both are attractive, but our yellow review sample makes an instant retina-searing impression straight out of the box, making it the more suitable poser's accessory. Asus says the laptops use the same paint finish as the iconic cars, incorporating subtle golden paint flecks that catch the light of the sun, as well as the famous Lamborghini logo.

Features
Any laptop bearing the name of a high-performance sports car deserves high-performance components, and the Asus Lamborghini VX1 doesn't disappoint. It's not the most insanely well-equipped laptop we've seen, but its 2GHz Intel T2500 CPU and 2GB of DDR2 RAM give it a very potent foundation from which to build.
We'd have preferred if the laptop used the 2.2GHz T2600, the fastest CPU in the Centrino Duo range, but this is an acceptable alternative. Graphics performance comes courtesy of a custom Nvidia chip, the Geforce 7400 VX. This is essentially a GeForce 7400 that was renamed for Asus' use, but it's a welcome and capable inclusion for a laptop that doesn't tout itself as a dedicated gaming machine.
Unusually, Asus has opted not to use a widescreen 16:9 display on the Lamborghini VX1. Instead, you get a 15-inch screen with a native resolution of 1,400x1,050 pixels. This is fine for everyday use, but its 4:3 aspect ratio limits the number of windows you can view side by side, and means you get a letterbox view when playing 16:9 widescreen movies. Some may take exception to the screen's glossy coating, which is a tad too reflective to use in direct light, but aside from this, we were very impressed with the image quality. Colours were recreated faithfully, and the screen was able to accurately display the subtle tonal differences.
Also impressive was the capacious 160GB hard drive. It's the largest laptop drive on the market and is perfect for storing a wealth of games and other multimedia content. You also get a dual-layer DVD rewriter drive that lets you burn up to 8.5GB of data per DVD disc. Unfortunately it's quite slow at 4x, and is a tray-loading model. We'd have preferred a slot-loading drive to help maintain the sleek lines of the laptop.
The Lamborghini VX1 features the usual assortment of ports, including three USB ports, a 4-pin Firewire port, plus a Gigabit (1,000Mbps) Ethernet port. You also get a 5-in-1 memory card reader which supports all major formats, but there's no sign of a modem -- you'll need to buy your own USB modem, as is the case with most new laptops.

Sony Ericsson W810i

Arguably the best of the Walkman phones, the W810i has everything you need in a music player phone: Sony's award-winning Walkman music player with enough memory to store 20 full-length audio CD's, a built-in FM radio, and a 2 megapixel camera with autofocus. In our opinion this is a phone that cannot be faulted.

Launched in April 2006, The Sony Ericsson W810i is the upgraded version of the highly acclaimed and massively popular Sony Ericsson W800i, the first Walkman™ branded mobile phone.

There are a few physical differences between the W810i and the W800i: the W810i is slightly thinner, has raised keys instead of embedded keys, and has a 5-way navigation button instead of the W800i's slightly awkward joystick. Apart from this external makeover, the differences between the W810i and the W800i are minor. The W810i has the advantage of EDGE (for faster internet access) an is quadband instead of triband. It also has Fast Port - a system connector that enables faster data transfer from phone to PC and PC to phone, and which also serves as a charging port.

The W810i is designed to be an outstanding music player phone, and it succeeds. The media player supports both MP3 and AAC formats and audio quality is superb. Mega Bass™ enhances bass frequencies for a better overall music experience. There's loads of memory for storing music, as the W810i comes bundled with a 512 Mbyte Memory Stick PRO Duo™ - enough to store up to 20 full-length audio CD's. The memory stick is expandable to 1 Gbyte. Software for ripping CD's is supplied. In addition to the MP3 player there's an FM radio with RDS. A quality headset is included in the sales package, and the W810i can also be connected to an external speaker system via an optional cable.

On the imaging side, the W810i has the same 2-megapixel camera as the W800i. This features autofocus, for sharper images, a 4x digital zoom, camera light and a video recorder. It's one of the best camera phones available, and has an outstanding screen to accompany it.

Connectivity is excellent too, with support for all types of external connections: Bluetooth, USB, Infra-red, Fast port plus fast internet connectivity using EDGE.

The W810i is a phone that cannot be faulted. It was one of the best phones of 2006 and is still one of the best in 2007. The new Sony Ericsson W610i is also worth considering, as is the ultra-slim W880i. Now that the W810i has been around for quite a while, prices have dropped significantly and on pay monthly contracts you can get a free W810i with half price line rental for 18 months or with a free gift such as a Nintendo DS or an XBOX 360.

Features of the Sony Ericsson W810i include:
